Abdelmadjid Tebboune, mercredi soir au complexe olympique Mohamed-Boudiaf (Alger), l’ouverture de la 15e édition des Jeux sportifs arabes organisés par l’Algérie du 5 au 15 juillet, avec la participation de près de 2.000 athlètes représentant 22 pays arabes.
“C’est une joie et un honneur pour moi de procéder au nom du Président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, à l’ouverture de ce grand événement sportif arabe. Je souhaite la bienvenue à nos chers frères arabes en Algérie, leur 2e pays, pour participer aux côtés de leurs frères aux compétitions de la 15e édition des Jeux panarabes qui coïncident avec la date de célébration par notre pays du 61e anniversaire du recouvrement de son indépendance et de sa souveraineté sur sa terre bénie”, a indiqué le Premier ministre dans une allocution prononcée à cette occasion.
“Notre pays a contribué avec succès à la réunification des rangs de notre nation arabe en accueillant, le 1er novembre de l’an dernier, le Sommet arabe qui a coïncidé avec la date du déclenchement de notre glorieuse Révolution et de la lutte de notre peuple vaillant qui a consenti des sacrifices incommensurables pour sa libération du joug colonial”, a soutenu le Premier ministre.
Et d’ajouter: “le voici aujourd’hui accueillant avec fierté les Jeux sportifs arabes, mû par la volonté de contribuer, à travers ce grand évènement sportif au renforcement des liens de coopération et d’amitié entre nos peuples et nos pays qui ont les capacités et les potentialités leur permettant d’être une force de frappe dans ce monde où il n’y pas de place pour les faibles”.
“Soucieux d’assurer une bonne organisation de cette édition, digne des frères arabes, nous avons œuvré, sous l’égide du président de la République Abdelmadjid Tebboune et sur ses instructions judicieuses à faire de cette 15e édition des Jeux sportifs arabes la plus réussie des éditions, conforme aux attentes des délégations sportives participantes, des peuples arabes et à la hauteur des compétitions sportives internationales. A cet effet, cinq villes ont été retenues au regard de leurs attraits historiques, culturels et touristiques, à savoir : Alger, Oran, Constantine, Annaba et Tipaza”, a-t-il souligné.
Pour la réussite de ce rendez-vous arabe, “l’Algérie, a-t-il affirmé, a mobilisé tous les moyens et infrastructures nécessaires pour accueillir les délégations de 22 pays arabes, 3000 athlètes et techniciens, toutes disciplines confondues, y compris celles dédiées aux personnes aux besoins spécifiques”.
Et d’ajouter que la tenue des Jeux panarabes en Algérie “se veut une occasion pour les frères arabes de renforcer les liens culturels et d’apprécier les atouts historiques et touristiques dont regorge notre pays et qui reflètent sa position importante au sein de l’organisation arabe et sur les plans africain et international, et leur permettra de mieux connaître le peuple algérien, fier de son appartenance arabe”.
Les athlètes les plus brillants du monde arabe s’affronteront, durant 14 jours, dans 22 disciplines, avec une seule devise la concurrence loyale et la consolidation des liens de fraternité entre les peuples arabes.
Outre l’Algérie, plusieurs pays participent aux Jeux panarabes 2023, à savoir : la Jordanie, les Emirats Arabes Unis, l’Arabie Saoudite, le Soudan, l’Irak, le Maroc, la Tunisie, l’Egypte, le Yémen, la Tunisie, la Syrie, la Palestine, le Qatar, le Koweït, le Bahreïn, le Sultanat d’Oman, la Libye, les Iles Comores, le Djibouti et la Mauritanie.
