Dans son allocution aux travaux de la 14e Session extraordinaire de la Conférence des chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement de l’Union africaine (UA) “Faire taire les armes en Afrique”, tenus en visioconférence, le Premier ministre a déclaré: “l’Algérie prend acte, avec une grande préoccupation, de la poursuite des transferts, au profit de groupes terroristes, de fonds colossaux au titre de rançons pour la libération des otages. Une démarche qui sape nos efforts de lutte antiterroriste”.
M.Djerad a affirmé, dans son intervention, l’attachement de l’Algérie à “poursuivre sa contribution aux efforts africains communs pour atténuer l’impact de cette pandémie sur les peuples du continent”, relevant que cette pandémie “a négativement impacté de nos actions visant à débarrasser notre continent des conflits armés, et à faire taire les armes en Afrique”.
Dans cette optique, le Premier ministre a souligné l’impératif de “consolider la concertation afin d’éradiquer l’extrémisme violent, lutter contre le terrorisme et assécher les sources de son financement”.
Aussi, a-t-il mis l’accent sur l’importance de “la concrétisation des décisions onusiennes relatives à l’embargo sur les armes dans les zones de conflits, la reconstruction des capacités nationales pour sécuriser les stocks d’armes et de munitions, et la lutte contre le trafic illicite des armes légères et de petit calibre”.
Et de relever, par la même occasion, la nécessité d’oeuvrer pour “que les frontières communes entre pays africains ne se transforment en source de conflits et de menaces pour la sécurité et la stabilité, accélérer la définition et la délimitation des frontières entre les Etats et veiller au respect rigoureux du principe de l’UA sur le respect des frontières héritées à l’indépendance”.
