Le président démissionnaire de la Fédération algérienne de football (FAF), Charaf-Eddine Amara a exprimé jeudi son souhait de voir le sélectionneur national Djamel Belmadi poursuivre sa mission, malgré l’échec des “Verts” à se qualifier au Mondial-2022 du Qatar.
“J’ai discuté avec Belmadi (après le match contre le Cameroun, NDLR). Il ne m’a pas donné une réponse précise. Mais pour ma part, je souhaite qu’il poursuive sa mission” à la barre technique de l’équipe algérienne, a répondu Charaf-Eddine Amara à une question d’un journaliste, au sujet de l’avenir de Belmadi à la tête de l’équipe algérienne.
Ce dossier relatif à l’avenir de Djamel Belmadi, sera pris en charge par le président intérimaire Mohamed Maouche, a ajouté Charaf-Eddine Amara lors d’une conférence de presse tenue au siège de la FAF et dans laquelle il a annoncé sa démission de son poste, à l’issue de l’échec de l’équipe nationale à se qualifier à la Coupe du monde 2022 au Qatar (21 novembre – 18 décembre).
Mardi soir, dans la conférence de presse d’après-match, Djamel Belmadi était resté évasif sur son avenir à la tête des Verts.
“Le jour où je sens que je ne serai plus utile pour mon pays, je me retire tranquillement. Je vais réfléchir comme il le faut dans les jours à venir. Le plus important est que cette équipe nationale soit forte dans les prochaines années. Les étapes par lesquelles on est passé doivent nous renforcer. Il faut juste continuer à travailler et améliorer ce qui n’a pas marché dans l’organisation de cette équipe, de cette Fédération”, a-t-il dit.
Mohamed Maouche assure l’intérim à la tête de la FAF
Le vice-président de la Fédération algérienne de football Mohamed Maouche, a été désigné pour assurer l’intérim à la tête de l’instance fédérale jusqu’à la tenue d’une assemblée générale élective, a annoncé jeudi le président démissionnaire Charaf-Eddine Amara.
“J’accepte de faire les frais de cette élimination. Je me suis réuni avec les membres du Bureau Fédéral, pour les informer de ma décision de me retirer de mon poste. L’intérim de la présidence de la FAF sera assuré par un vice-président. J’ai décidé de désigner Mohamed Maouche pour ce qu’il représente comme symbole jusqu’à la tenue des prochaines élections”, a-t-il indiqué lors d’un point de presse tenu au siège de la FAF à Alger.
Charaf-Eddine a décidé de convoquer jeudi une réunion extraordinaire du Bureau fédéral pour étudier la situation, suite à l’échec des “Verts” à se qualifier à la prochaine Coupe du monde 2022 au Qatar, avant de faire signifier sa décision de se retirer de son poste.
Vainqueur lors de la première manche disputée vendredi face au Cameroun à Douala (1-0), l’équipe nationale s’est inclinée, à la surprise générale, mardi soir au stade Mustapha-Tchaker de Blida (2-1), dans le temps additionnel des prolongations.
“C’est une démission individuelle, qui va entraîner des élections qui se tiendront dans quelques jours. Je souhaite bon courage au futur président qui sera élu par l’assemblée générale ainsi qu’à toutes les sélections nationales. J’espère que l’ensemble des sélectionneurs, toutes catégories confondues, puissent rester à leurs postes dans le souci de préserver la stabilité”, a-t-il conclu.
Pour rappel, Charaf-Eddine Amara avait été élu à la tête de la FAF en avril 2021, en remplacement de Kheïreddine Zetchi, qui avait refusé de se présenter pour un second mandat.
