Le ministre des affaires étrangères russe, Sergueï Lavrov, a rejeté la faute sur les États-Unis et leurs alliés, déclarant dimanche qu’ils « ont insisté sur un langage absolument inacceptable concernant la situation en Ukraine ». Une nouvelle scène d’horreur circule sur les réseaux sociaux. Des comptes Telegram proches du Groupe Wagner, qui combat en Ukraine aux côtés de l’armée russe, ont publié une vidéo montrant un homme, le crâne maintenu à un bloc de pierre avec du ruban adhésif, frappé à la tête avec une massue.
Il s’agirait d’un soldat du groupe s’étant rendu délibérément à l’armée ukrainienne mais ayant ensuite été repris par les Russes. Le chef des mercenaires de Wagner, Evgueni Prigojine, a confirmé dimanche l’exécution. « Dans ce show, on voit que [cet homme] n’a pas trouvé son bonheur en Ukraine, mais qu’il a rencontré des personnes peu aimables mais justes », a-t-il commenté, cité par son service de presse.
« [Cette vidéo] pourrait avoir pour titre “Un chien mérite de mourir comme un chien”. C’est un magnifique travail de réalisation, cela se regarde d’une seule traite. J’espère qu’aucun animal n’a été blessé pendant le tournage », a ajouté M. Prigojine. Ni Le Monde ni les agences de presse n’étaient en mesure de confirmer l’authenticité de cette vidéo dans l’immédiat.
