Le président ukrainien, Volodymyr Zelensky, a reconnu lundi soir que la situation de l’armée ukrainienne aux alentours de Bakhmout, dans l’est du pays, devenait très difficile. « La situation devient de plus en plus compliquée », a-t-il déclaré dans son message quotidien. « L’ennemi détruit systématiquement tout ce qui peut être utilisé pour protéger nos positions », a-t-il ajouté, qualifiant de « vrais héros » les soldats ukrainiens engagés dans cette bataille.
Depuis l’été, les troupes de Moscou tentent de prendre la ville de Bakhmout, à l’importance stratégique contestée mais devenue un symbole de la lutte pour le contrôle de la région du Donbass, dans l’est de l’Ukraine. Dans des propos diffusés lundi par la télévision russe, le président de la « république populaire de Donetsk » (Ukraine orientale), Denis Pouchiline, a assuré que toutes les voies d’accès à la ville forteresse de Bakhmout sont « à portée d’armes » des forces prorusses.
Les forces russes tentent depuis plusieurs semaines d’encercler Bakhmout et ont réussi à couper plusieurs routes importantes pour le ravitaillement des troupes ukrainiennes. Le patron du groupe paramilitaire russe Wagner, Evguéni Prigojine, a revendiqué samedi la capture par ses hommes du village de Iaguidné, situé à la périphérie nord de Bakhmout.

« La situation aux alentours de Bakhmout est extrêmement tendue », a déclaré Oleksandre Syrsky, cité par le centre de presse officiel de l’armée. « L’ennemi a envoyé à l’attaque les unités les mieux préparées (du groupe paramilitaire) Wagner qui tentent de percer la défense de nos troupes et d’encercler la ville », a-t-il ajouté.
Nuit agitée à Soumy
Le gouvernement de la région de Soumy, au nord-est de l’Ukraine, a enregistré 36 frappes russes cette nuit, selon un rapport transmis à la radio nationale Suspline.
Une personne tuée et une blessée à Kherson
Selon les autorités locales, une personne a été tuée et une autre blessée à la suite du bombardement de Kherson qui a notamment détruit un immeuble résidentiel.

Un drone s’est écrasé mardi près d’un village dans la région de Moscou, a indiqué le gouverneur local, précisant que l’engin visait « probablement » une infrastructure civile, sur fond de craintes d’attaques ukrainiennes en Russie.
« Il n’y a pas de victime, ni de destruction au sol », a indiqué le gouverneur Andreï Vorobiov sur Telegram, ajoutant que le drone s’était écrasé près de la localité de Goubastovo, à environ 100 kilomètres au sud-est de Moscou.
Stoltenberg assure que l’Ukraine deviendra un membre de l’Otan, mais “à long terme”

Quelques jours après le premier anniversaire de l’invasion russe d’Ukraine, le secrétaire d’Etat américain rencontrera mardi ses homologues des cinq républiques ex-soviétiques d’Asie centrale dans la capitale kazakhe. Il aura également un entretien dans la journée avec le président Kassym-Jomart Tokaïev, puis se rendra en Ouzbékistan.
Washington ne se fait aucune illusion sur la possibilité que ces cinq pays lâchent leur partenaire historique russe, ni sur l’influence de leur autre puissant voisin, la Chine.

Le Kazakhstan, qui partage une frontière longue de quelque 7 500 kilomètres avec la Russie, est en première ligne au regard de sa relation complexe avec Moscou. L’UE a annoncé lundi qu’elle prolongeait d’un an ses sanctions contre la Biélorussie pour la poursuite de la répression menée par le régime d’Alexandre Loukachenko et son soutien à la guerre menée par la Russie en Ukraine. Depuis août 2020, l’UE a imposé plusieurs séries de sanctions contre les responsables de la répression politique et des violations des droits humains en Biélorussie.
Le président Alexandre Loukachenko et 194 autres personnalités proches du régime ont été interdits de séjour dans l’UE et leurs avoirs ont été gelés. La Biélorussie est également soumise à des sanctions économiques ciblées, notamment des restrictions dans le secteur financier, le commerce, les biens à double usage, les télécommunications, l’énergie, les transports.
Wizz Air suspend ses vols avec la Moldavie pour des raisons de sécurité
La compagnie aérienne hongroise à bas coûts Wizz Air a annoncé lundi 27 février la suspension de toutes ses liaisons avec la Moldavie, invoquant des raisons sécuritaires sur fond de tensions accrues avec Moscou. « En raison des récents développements et du risque élevé bien que non imminent dans l’espace aérien du pays, Wizz Air a pris la décision difficile mais responsable de suspendre tous ses vols à destination de Chisinau à partir du 14 mars », explique le groupe dans un communiqué.
République de 2,6 millions d’habitants au gouvernement pro-européen située entre la Roumanie et l’Ukraine, la Moldavie craint depuis le début de l’offensive d’être la prochaine cible de Moscou et a fait état ces dernières semaines de « tentatives de déstabilisation ». Elle avait fermé son espace aérien dès les premières heures de l’invasion russe en Ukraine, le 24 février 2022.
Les vols avaient repris le 21 mars mais depuis, le pays a été survolé par des missiles russes, notamment en octobre 2022 et en janvier dernier. Des débris de projectiles aériens ont également été retrouvés sur le territoire moldave à plusieurs reprises.
Le 14 février, l’espace aérien avait été brièvement fermé par précaution après la détection « d’un objet volant ressemblant à un ballon-sonde météo ». Le ministère des Infrastructures a dit « regretter la décision » de Wizz Air, assurant dans un communiqué que les vols, « qui respectent un certain nombre de procédures, pouvaient être effectués en toute sécurité ».
Il s’agit de la première société à prendre une telle décision. Wizz Air opérait 18 lignes depuis Chisinau avec trois appareils basés dans l’aéroport, soit un tiers de la capacité totale, selon un communiqué datant de septembre 2022.
