Abdelhak Benchikha (Entraineur de l’USM Alger) : “Après de longues années d’attente l’USM Alger est enfin sacrée sur le plan continental et décroche l’étoile qui manquait tant à son palmarès. Le mérite revient aux joueurs et à nos supporteurs qui nous ont soutenu jusqu’au coup de sifflet final,
malgré le penalty encaissé en début de match. Je pense que la pression et le manque d’expérience ont beaucoup joué sur cette rencontre que nous n’avons pas maitrisé comme il le fallait. Le plus important est que nous avons atteint notre objectif après un long parcours de 12 matchs, durant lesquels nous avons fait preuve de courage et d’abnégation. Nous avons raté l’entame de match en encaissant un penalty d’entrée de jeu, mais nous avons apporté les changements nécessaires en deuxième mi-temps pour garder l’avantage obtenu au match aller.
L’USMA mérite ce trophée, notamment, après avoir sacrifié le championnat national pour obtenir cette Coupe d’Afrique. Je dédie ce trophée à tous les anciens joueurs de l’USMA de Meziani, Saadi, Abdouche, Hadj Adlene et Dziri, qui n’ont pas eu la chance de remporter ce trophée. Je suis l’homme le plus heureux sur terre après cette consécration, qui vient couronner 25 ans de carrière en tant qu’entraineur”.
