L’Algérie, élue à l’unanimité vice-présidente du Conseil international des céréales (CIC) pour la période 2023-2024, présidera cette instance à compter de juillet 2024 pour une période d’un an, indique le ministère de l’Agriculture et du Développement rural, lundi, dans un communiqué.
L’Algérie a été élue au poste de vice-président du CIC, en marge de la 58e session du Forum mondial du CIC, tenue à Londres, les 12 juin et 13 juin, précise la même source, relevant que cette élection “permettra de renforcer la position de l’Algérie qui aura désormais une vision prospective en matière de production, d’importation et d’exportation de céréales sur le marché international, notamment en cette conjoncture caractérisée par des conditions économiques et géopolitiques exceptionnelles”.
Cette élection permettra également à l’Algérie de “tirer profit des expériences et expertises des pays leaders en matière de production céréalière, particulièrement à travers la concrétisation du nouveau plan de développement de la filière céréalière et légumineuse, que le secteur agricole s’emploie à mettre sur le terrain afin de réaliser la sécurité alimentaire”, note la même source.
Le CIC est une organisation ayant pour objectif de renforcer la coopération internationale dans le commerce des céréales, contribuer à la stabilité des marchés des céréales et améliorer la sécurité alimentaire mondiale.
A noter que “l’Algérie assurera la présidence du CIC, à compter de juillet 2024, conformément aux Statuts du Conseil”.
