La fédération Izquierda Unida (Gauche unie/IU), regroupant des partis espagnols de gauche a réaffirmé sa position en faveur du droit du peuple sahraoui à l’autodétermination, condamnant les violations des droits de l’Homme commises par l’occupant marocain dans les territoires occupés du Sahara occidental.
Dans son programme pour les élections générales espagnoles du 23 juillet, l’IU réaffirme sa “position de soutien au peuple sahraoui et à son représentant légitime, le Front Polisario, dans sa lutte exemplaire pour l’autodétermination et l’indépendance du Sahara occidental”, rapporte samedi l’agence Europa Press.
Dans ce même programme intitulé “Travailler pour la paix”, et soumis à Sumar (une coalition de gauche dirigée par Yolanda Diaz, deuxième vice-présidente du gouvernement espagnol), l’Izquierda Unida qui fait partie de cette coalition, condamne “sans réserve” la répression de l’occupant marocain commise contre les civils sahraouis et ses violations des droits de l’homme dans les territoires sahraouis illégalement occupés.
La formation rejoint désormais Sumar, qui a réaffirmé, fin juin, sa position soutenant le droit du peuple sahraoui à l’autodétermination.
“Nous maintenons la position que nous avons toujours défendue: Nous soutenons l’autodétermination du peuple sahraoui dans le cadre des résolutions des Nations unies”, avait déclaré Mme Diaz.
Candidate à la présidence du gouvernement espagnol, l’actuelle ministre du Travail a tenu également à préciser que tous les membres de Sumar “soutiennent cette position” à l’égard du Sahara occidental.
Selon l’agence Europa Press, cette coalition a affirmé que sa position était basée sur “le respect des droits de l’Homme, critère qui régira la relation avec le Maroc”, comme l’avait signifié son porte-parole, l’eurodéputé Ernest Urtasun.
Ce dernier a souligné que “la défense du droit à l’autodétermination du peuple sahraoui était l’un des points qui allaient être clairement abordés dans le programme électoral”.
“La position de Sumar sur le Sahara occidental sera unique et cohérente, basée notamment sur la défense de l’autodétermination du peuple sahraoui, dans le respect des résolutions des Nations unies et du mandat de la MINURSO (Mission de l’ONU pour l’organisation d’un référendum au Sahara occidental)”, a-t-il encore souligné.
