ALGÉRIE/POLITIQUE: Ouverture des archives françaises concernant la disparition de Maurice Audin
Les archives publiques françaises concernant la disparition de Maurice Audin, militant communiste disparu en 1957 en Algérie et mort sous la torture, seront ouvertes, selon un arrêté paru mardi au Journal officiel.
“Cet arrêté prévoit la libre consultation (…) des archives publiques relatives à la disparition de Maurice Audin conservées aux Archives nationales, aux Archives nationales d’outre-mer, aux Archives départementales d’Ille-et-Vilaine et au Service historique de la Défense”, précise le texte.
Sébastien Jumel, porte-parole des députés communistes, a salué mardi un “acte fort”. Ce geste “fait le pari de parvenir à une mémoire apaisée en encourageant la recherche de la vérité historique”, a-t-il estimé lors de la conférence de presse de rentrée du groupe PCF à l’Assemblée nationale.
Il avait, avec le député LREM de l’Essonne Cédric Villani, demandé en février 2018 “la reconnaissance officielle” par l’Etat de l’assassinat de Maurice Audin.
Emmanuel Macron avait reconnu en septembre 2018 la responsabilité de l’Etat français dans la disparition de l’assistant de mathématiques à la faculté d’Alger et membre du Parti communiste algérien.
Dans une déclaration remise à sa veuve, Josette Audin, décédée depuis, le président avait reconnu “au nom de la République française, que Maurice Audin a été torturé puis exécuté ou torturé à mort par des militaires qui l’avaient arrêté à son domicile” le 11 juin 1957. Le président avait également demandé “pardon”.
Il reconnaissait “aussi que si sa mort est, en dernier ressort, le fait de quelques-uns, elle a néanmoins été rendue possible par un système légalement institué”, alors que la trace de Maurice Audin, suspecté d’avoir aidé le FLN, était perdue 10 jours après son arrestation.
Emmanuel Macron avait alors également confirmé l’ouverture des archives sur le sujet des disparus civils et militaires, français et algériens.
