Près de 42 millions d’abonnés à l’internet fixe (ADSL, fibre FTTH et 4G LTE/Wimax) et au mobile (3G et 4G) ont été enregistrés durant le 3ème trimestre de 2020, selon le dernier rapport de l’Autorité de régulation de la Poste et des communications électroniques (ARPCE) sur l’évolution du marché de l’Internet fixe et mobile en Algérie.
Le nombre d’abonnés à l’internet fixe a ainsi dépassé les 3,7 millions et celui mobile les 38 millions durant le 3ème trimestre de 2020, détaille le rapport.
Concernant l’internet fixe, il est relevé un total de 3.730.931 abonnés au 3ème trimestre de 2020, alors qu’il était de 3.503.474 à la même période de 2019, soit une évolution de 6,49% en l’espace d’une année.
Sur les 3.730.931 abonnés à l’internet fixe, 2.454.574 sont abonnés à l’internet haut débit (ADSL), 59.750 à la fibre optique jusqu’au domicile (FTTH), 1.216.164 à la 4G LTE fixe et 443 à la technologie Wimax.
Quant au taux de pénétration de l’internet fixe, il est relevé une évolution qui passe de 7,96% au 3ème trimestre de l’année dernière à 8,49% au 3ème trimestre de l’année en cours.
Il est constaté, en outre, une augmentation de l’utilisation de la bande passante en Algérie au cours du 3ème trimestre de 2020, atteignant ainsi les 1580 Gigabits (1,58 Térabit), contre 998 Gigabits (0,998 Térabit) durant la même période de l’année 2019.
Pour ce qui est de la situation du marché de l’Internet mobile 3G/4G, un total de 38.069.773 abonnés a été enregistré durant le 3ème trimestre de 2020, alors qu’il était de 36.546.458 durant la même période de 2019, soit une augmentation de 4,17%, en une année.
Pour ce qui est de l’évolution du parc global d’abonnés internet mobile par technologie, l’ARPCE note une augmentation, durant le 3ème trimestre en cours, du nombre d’abonnés à la 4G avec 28.125.102 abonnés actifs, contre 23.807.131 au 3ème trimestre de l’année 2019 et une diminution du nombre d’abonnés à la 3G avec 9.944.671(un total de 12.739.327 durant le 3ème trimestre de 2019).
Le rapport relève, par ailleurs, une évolution du taux de pénétration de l’Internet de téléphonie mobile, qui passe de 83,06% durant le 3ème trimestre de 2019 à 86,60% au cours du 3ème trimestre de 2020
Il est ainsi noté une importante augmentation du volume du trafic internet mobile consommé durant le 3ème trimestre de 2020 atteignant les 385.892.838 Gigaoctet comparativement à la même période de l’année dernière où il a été enregistré 278.476.358, soit un taux d’évolution de 38,57%.
