Le porte-parole du Haut- Commissaire des Nations unies aux droits de l’Homme (HCDH) a appelé les autorités algériennes à mettre fin à la «violence à l’encontre des manifestants pacifiques» du mouvement du Hirak, écrit-il dans un communiqué.Rupert Colville, qui a fait part, hier vendredi, de l’inquiétude de l’organisation quant à la situation en Algérie où le mouvement populaire du Hirak «est reparti de plus belle depuis plusieurs semaines», a-t-il ajouté, appelle «les autorités algériennes à cesser de recourir à la violence contre des manifestants pacifiques et à mettre fin aux arrestations ainsi qu’aux détentions arbitraires», prévient-il.
Selon le HCDH, dans le but de «réprimer des manifestations pacifiques», a-t-il indiqué «les forces de l’ordre ont à de nombreuses reprises recouru à une force excessive», a-t-il estimé.
Dans ce contexte, et se référant à des informations  jugées «fiables», l’organisation a fait état de centaines d’arrestations, depuis la reprise des manifestations, le 13 février 2021.
