L‘Algérie évoluera dans le groupe D avec notamment l’Egypte, selon le tirage au sort de la Coupe arabe de la Fifa 2021 réalisé mardi soir à l’Opéra Katara de Doha.
Outre l’Algérie (champion d’Afrique) et l’Egypte, le groupe D comprend également le vainqueur des matchs: Liban-Djibouti, et Libye-Soudan.
Le tournoi sera disputé en deux étapes avec une compétition préliminaire qui concernera quatorze équipes les moins bien classées sous la forme de sept matchs simples à éliminatoire directe, puis une compétition finale se déroulant sous forme d’une phase de groupes, suivie de quarts de finale, demi-finales et finale.
Prévue à la fin 2021, la Coupe arabe sera l’occasion de tester les installations et les opérations à tout juste un an de la première Coupe du Monde de la FIFA organisée au Moyen-Orient et dans le monde arabe. Les finales des deux compétitions se tiendront un 18 décembre, jour de la fête nationale qatarie.
Les matches de la Coupe arabe sont programmés dans six des stades de la Coupe du Monde. Certains ont déjà accueilli des rencontres de haut niveau ces derniers mois tandis que d’autres abordent la phase finale de leur
construction.
Composition des quatre groupes :
Groupe A: Qatar, Irak, vainqueur Oman-Somalie, Vainqueur Bahreïn-Koweït
Groupe B : Tunisie, Emirats arabes unis, Syrie, Vainqueur Mauritanie-Yemen
Groupe C : Maroc, Arabie saoudite, Vainqueur Jordanie-Soudan du sud, Vainqueur Palestine-Comores
Groupe D : Algérie, Egypte, Vainqueur Liban-Djibouti, Vainqueur Libye-Soudan.
