La journaliste Shireen Abu Akleh, une des plus connues de la chaîne arabe Al-Jazira, a été tuée mercredi matin par un tir de l’armée israélienne alors qu’elle couvrait des affrontements dans le secteur de Jénine en Cisjordanie occupée.
Le ministère palestinien de la Santé et la chaîne Al-Jazira ont dans la foulée annoncé le décès de cette journaliste par un tir de l’armée israélienne lors de sa couverture à Jénine,
Tuée de “sang froid”
Selon les images prises sur les lieux, la journaliste a été tuée “de sang froid” par les forces israéliennes. “Dans un ce qui est d’évidence un meurtre, en violation des lois et des normes internationales, les forces d’occupation israéliennes ont assassiné de sang-froid la correspondante d’Al Jazeera en Palestine, Shireen Abu Akleh, prise pour cible de tirs à balles réelles tôt ce matin”.
La vice-ministre des Affaires étrangères du Qatar, Lolwah Al Khater, a précisé dans un message sur Twitter, que la correspondante avait été tuée par les forces israéliennes d'”une balle au visage”. “L’occupation israélienne a tué la journaliste d’Al Jazeera Shireen Abu Akleh en lui tirant une balle au visage alors qu’elle portait une veste ‘presse’ et un casque. Elle couvrait leur attaque dans le camp de réfugiés de Jénine. Ce terrorisme d’État israélien doit cesser, le soutien inconditionnel à Israël doit cesser”, a-t-elle écrit.
Une journaliste chevronnée
Palestinienne, chrétienne et âgée d’une cinquantaine d’années, Shireen Abu Akleh avait travaillé à “La Voix de la Palestine”, Radio Monte-Carlo, avant de rejoindre la chaîne Al-Jazira, où elle s’est fait connaître à travers le Moyen-Orient pour ses reportages sur le conflit israélo-palestinien.
Un autre journaliste a été blessé lors de ces affrontements ont indiqué des sources hospitalières et un photographe de l’AFP sur place.
