Après une rencontre samedi avec le président ukrainien, Volodymyr Zelensky, la présidente de la Commission européenne, Ursula von der Leyen, a déclaré à propos des ambitions de Kiev de rejoindre l’Union européenne : « Nous voulons soutenir l’Ukraine dans son parcours européen », a déclaré Mme von der Leyen lors d’une courte conférence de presse. « Les discussions d’aujourd’hui vont nous permettre de finaliser notre évaluation d’ici la fin de la semaine prochaine », a-t-elle ajouté, soulignant que les autorités ukrainiennes ont « fait beaucoup » en vue d’une candidature, mais qu’il y a « encore beaucoup à faire », notamment dans la lutte anticorruption.
La cheffe de la Commission européenne doit encore s’entretenir avec le premier ministre ukrainien, Denys Chmyhal, pour cette visite à Kiev, sa deuxième depuis le début de la guerre, la précédente ayant eu lieu le 8 avril.

Après l’usine Azovstal à Marioupol, l’usine Azot à Sievierodonetsk ? Dans un message publié sur les réseaux sociaux, Serhi Haïdaï, gouverneur de l’oblast de Louhansk, dément que des soldats ukrainiens soient bloqués et retiennent des centaines de civils dans les sous-sols de l’usine Azot de Sievierodonetsk. « Les nôtres tiennent la zone industrielle (…) et détruisent l’armée russe dans la ville. Ne croyez que l’information officielle », met-il en garde.
« L’ennemi continue de mener des assauts dans la ville de Sievierodonetsk », a déclaré samedi matin le chef d’état-major des armées ukrainiennes, précisant que quatorze attaques avaient été repoussées dans les régions de Donetsk et Louhansk en vingt-quatre heures, mais que les troupes russes rencontraient un « succès partiel » aux abords du village d’Orikhovo.
La prise de la ville ouvrirait à Moscou la route d’une autre grande ville, Kramatorsk, étape importante pour conquérir l’intégralité du bassin du Donbass, région essentiellement russophone de l’est de l’Ukraine, en partie tenue par des séparatistes prorusses depuis 2014.
Mort d’un journaliste militaire ukrainien
Le chef de l’administration présidentielle ukrainienne, Andriy Yermak, a annoncé samedi matin « la mort pendant la guerre » d’un journaliste militaire, l’officier Oleksi Chubashev. Il était responsable d’un programme de recrutement, mais aussi de la télévision militaire ukrainienne. M. Yermak n’a pas donné de précision sur les circonstances de sa mort.

La plupart des femmes, des enfants et des résidents âgés sont partis dans un train d’évacuation spécial qui a quitté la ville de Pokrovsk et s’est dirigé vers l’ouest.

La conquête de l’est de l’Ukraine constitue toujours la priorité de l’armée russe, notamment les villes de Sievierodonetsk et Lyssytchansk, dans le Donbass.
« Sievierodonetsk n’est pas libéré à 100 % (…) En tout état de cause (…), Sievierodonetsk (…) Lyssytchansk sera à nous », a avancé Leonid Passetchnik, dirigeant de la région séparatiste de Louhansk, en marge de la visite d’un hôpital militaire russe en construction dans la ville du même nom.
