Le président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a affirmé qu’il n’y avait pas de détenus d’opinion en Algérie, soulignant que toute personne qui pratique la diffamation et l’insulte sera poursuivie et jugée conformément aux dispositions du droit commun.
“Il n’y a pas de détenus d’opinion en Algérie et la prétendue existence de ce genre de détenus relève du mensonge du siècle”, a affirmé le Président Tebboune lors de son entrevue périodique avec la presse nationale, diffusée dimanche sur les chaines de la Radio et de la Télévision nationales.
Le chef de l’Etat a souligné que toute personne qui pratique l’insulte et la diffamation “doit être poursuivie et jugée conformément aux dispositions du droit commun et ce, quel que soit son statut”, ajoutant que “l’immunité ne concerne que les élus parlementaires” et que celle-ci “peut même être levée dans certains cas”.
Il a expliqué que quel que soit le statut de la personne, rien ne lui confère le droit de porter atteinte et de dénigrer les institutions de l’Etat ou les symboles de l’Histoire du pays comme l’Emir Abdelkader.
Tout en affirmant que la liberté d’expression est garantie en Algérie, à condition qu’elle s’exerce dans un cadre civilisé, le Président Tebboune a ajouté que les opposants peuvent exprimer leurs points de vue mais, a-t-il dit, qu’ils soient des porte-voix de parties activant à l’étranger, ceci ne saurait être accepté.
