Le Président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a reçu, lundi au siège de la Présidence de la République, le Haut représentant de l’Union européenne (UE) pour les Affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité et vice-président de la Commission européenne, M. Josep Borrell, qui effectue une visite en Algérie.
Un déjeuner de travail a réuni, lundi à Alger, le président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune avec le Haut représentant de l’Union européenne (UE) pour les Affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité et vice-président de la Commission européenne, M. Josep Borrell, indique un communiqué de la Présidence de la République.
Ont pris également part à ce déjeuner de travail du côté algérien, le directeur de cabinet à la Présidence de la République, Abdelaziz Khellaf, le secrétaire général du ministère des Affaires étrangères et de la Communauté nationale à l’étranger, M. Amar Belani et le directeur général Europe au ministère des Affaires étrangères, M. Mohamed El Amine Bencherif, et du côté européen, l’ambassadeur, chef de la délégation de l’Union européenne en Algérie, Thomas Eckert, la directrice générale pour le Moyen Orient et l’Afrique du nord du Service d’action extérieure de l’UE, Mme Hélène le Gal et le Chef de cabinet du Haut représentant de l’UE, Rafael Daerr, ajoute le communiqué.
Josep Borrell rend hommage aux martyrs de la Guerre de libération nationale
Le Haut représentant de l’Union européenne pour les Affaires étrangères et la Politique de sécurité, vice-président de la Commission européenne, Josep Borrell, s’est dit lundi “ému” de se recueillir au sanctuaire du Martyr à Alger, à la mémoire des martyrs de la Guerre de libération nationale, rendant hommage à “toutes celles et tous ceux qui ont perdu leur vie pour l’indépendance” de l’Algérie.
“Emu de me recueillir devant le monument des martyrs algériens”, a-t-il écrit dans un tweet après s’être recueilli, au sanctuaire du Martyr à la mémoire des martyrs de la Guerre de libération nationale.
M. Borrell qui a déposé une gerbe de fleurs devant la stèle commémorative et observé une minute de silence à la mémoire des martyrs de la Révolution algérienne, a tenu à rendre “hommage” à “toutes celles et tous ceux qui ont perdu leur vie pour l’indépendance de leur pays”.
La visite du Haut représentant de l’UE, arrivé dimanche à Alger, “s’inscrit dans le sillage de la visite en Algérie du président du Conseil européen, M. Charles Michel, effectuée en septembre 2022, marquant la volonté de l’Algérie et l’UE de rehausser leur coopération dans tous les domaines”, a indiqué samedi un communiqué du ministère des Affaires étrangères et de la Communauté nationale à l’étranger.
La visite de M. Borrell en Algérie, la première du genre depuis sa prise de fonction en décembre 2019, est l’occasion “de poursuivre le dialogue politique entre les deux parties et de faire le bilan de la coopération et les perspectives de son approfondissement, dans le cadre d’une mise en œuvre équilibrée et adaptée de l’Accord d’association Algérie-UE”, a ajouté le ministère.
M. Borell a été reçu lundi par le Président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, au siège de la Présidence de la République.
Il a également été reçu dimanche par le Premier ministre, Aïmene Benabderrahmane.
