La Russie considère la Crimée comme faisant partie de son territoire depuis qu’elle a annexé cette péninsule ukrainienne en 2014.
Ces derniers mois, les attaques de drones et les incursions transfrontalières d’hommes armés se sont multipliées en territoire russe. Kiev n’en a revendiqué aucune. L’avertissement de M. Choïgou intervient alors que Kiev est en train de mener une contre-offensive dans plusieurs secteurs du front, nombre d’analystes estimant que l’Ukraine est encore en train de tester les défenses russes avant de jeter le gros de ses forces dans la bataille.
Début mai, le Royaume-Uni a annoncé fournir à l’Ukraine plusieurs missiles de croisière à longue portée Storm Shadow, transportant une charge explosive de 450 kilos, qui peuvent atteindre des cibles situées entre 250 kilomètres et 500 kilomètres. En juin 2022, les Etats-Unis ont annoncé la livraison de Himars, lance-roquettes multiples tirant six munitions de 227 mm guidées par GPS et dont la portée peut aller jusqu’à 80 kilomètres environ.

La Commission européenne propose aux Etats membres de l’UE de prévoir une aide à l’Ukraine de 50 milliards d’euros sur les quatre prochaines années, a annoncé la présidente de l’exécutif européen, Ursula von der Leyen. « Nous proposons une réserve financière pour les quatre prochaines années de 50 milliards d’euros. Cela inclut à la fois des prêts et des subventions », a-t-elle précisé lors d’un point presse.
