ALGÉRIE/ ECONOMIE : Thon rouge: un quota de 1437 tonnes pour la campagne de pêche 2019
L’Algérie devrait pêcher un quota de 1437 tonnes de thon rouge au titre de la campagne de pêche pour l’année 2019 qui débutera, dimanche prochain, a déclaré mardi à l’APS, le Directeur général de la pêche et de l’aquaculture au ministère de l’Agriculture, du Développement rural et de la Pêche, Taha Hammouche.
La Commission internationale pour la conservation des thonidés de l`Atlantique (CICTA) a accordé à l’Algérie un quota de 1.445 tonne en 2019, sauf que l’Algérie a pêché un quota de 8 tonnes dans des opérations non ciblées et qui sont vendues sur les marchés par les pêcheurs, a précisé M. Hammouche.
La quantité a été réduite pour respecter le système des quotas bien défini par la CICTA, selon M. Hammouche.
En devise, la valeur du quota qui sera pêché entre le 26 mai et le 1er juillet s’élèvera à 14 millions d’euros et sera vendu dans le cadre d’une opération purement commerciale prise en charge par les armateurs.
Les pays du voisinage, à l’instar de la Tunisie, l’Espagne, la Turquie et Malte sont les principaux clients achetant le thon pêché en Algérie ainsi que d’autres pays possédant des fermes d’engraissement.
Le responsable prévoit une augmentation du quota de l’Algérie qui devrait dépasser 2000 tonnes en 2021 et 2500 tonnes d’ici 2025, après une augmentation sensible de la réserve internationale du thon rouge.
Dans ce contexte, M. Hammouche a indiqué que le quota de l’Algérie en thon rouge atteindra 1655 tonnes d’ici 2020 contre 460 tonnes en 2016.
Le quota mondial du thon est fixée après estimation de la réserve disponible en mer par la CICTA qui répartit les parts sur les pays concernés par les campagnes de pêche.
Pour M. Hammouche, l’Algérie a le droit de revendiquer l’augmentation de son quota de thon rouge à chaque fois que la réserve internationale augmente et la récupération des quotas perdues par l’Algérie après 2010.
