Le président des États-Unis d’Amérique, Donald J. Trump a adressé un message de félicitations au chef de l’État, Abdelkader Bensalah, à l’occasion de la célébration du 57e anniversaire de l’indépendance, mais sans évoquer explicitement les turbulences politiques en Algérie depuis le début de la contestation en février dernier.
« Monsieur le chef de l’État, au moment où l’Algérie s’apprête à célébrer le 5 juillet sa fête de l’indépendance, je suis heureux de vous présenter mes meilleurs vœux. L’amitié et le partenariat entre les États-Unis et l’Algérie ne font que s’intensifier d’année en année. Ensemble, nous avons lutté contre le terrorisme, renforcé nos liens éducatifs et culturels, et élargi notre coopération économique », a écrit le président Trump dans son message repris par l’agence officielle.
« J’apprécie considérablement les efforts incessants que l’Algérie déploie pour promouvoir des solutions politiques pacifiques face aux nombreux défis de la région, et ce du Mali jusqu’en Libye. Je me réjouis de la perspective de poursuivre notre collaboration dans d’autres domaines, que ce soit en intensifiant le commerce libre, équitable et réciproque, en élargissant la coopération en matière de sécurité ou en créant des occasions d’échange pour forger de nouveaux liens entre les États-Unis et l’Algérie », a-t-il ajouté. « Au nom du peuple américain, je vous félicite chaleureusement à l’occasion de votre fête de l’indépendance », note le texte.
