La ministre de la Culture et des Arts, Malika Bendouda, a annoncé lundi à Batna la levée du gel sur le projet de restauration du mausolée numide royal Medghassène dans la commune de Boumia.
Lors de son inspection de ce mausolée au second jour de sa visite de travail dans la wilaya, la ministre a précisé que le montant réservé à l’opération qui sera supervisée par des spécialistes algériens en coordination avec des institutions relevant de son département et l’association ‘‘des amis du Medghassène’’ est ‘’de 150 millions DA en plus de 500.000 dollars pour la restauration de ce monument dans le cadre d’une convention avec les Etats-Unis d’Amérique’’.
Après avoir suivi un exposé sur le mausolée et l’état dans lequel il se trouve depuis quelques années, Mme Bendouda a souligné ‘‘la grande importance de ce monument et sa grande valeur en étant le plus ancien site archéologique d’Algérie dont la construction remonte à près de 400 ans avant JC.’’.
Selon les explications faites à la ministre, le mausolée Medghassène représente un modèle d’architecture funéraire local qui a été classé parmi les sites et monuments historiques en 1900 puis en tant que monument archéologique sur la liste des mausolées royaux en 2002.
