Le président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune a annoncé mardi l’ouverture d’une ambassade d’Algérie en Guinée-Bissau, en vue d'”un retour à la normale” des relations bilatérales entre les deux pays.
“Nos deux pays sont passés par une conjoncture qui les a éloignés, mais à partir de cette visite, nos relations bilatérales reviendront à la normale”, a indiqué le Président Tebboune dans une déclaration conjointe avec le président de la République de Guinée-Bissau, M. Umaro Sissoco Embalo, au terme des entretiens qu’ils ont eus au siège de la Présidence de la République.
Affirmant qu’il était “inconcevable que l’Algérie n’ait pas une ambassade en Guinée-Bissau”, le Président Tebboune a souligné que “nous rectifierons cette erreur. J’espère que vous effectuerez, comme convenu, une visite d’Etat en Algérie dans les plus brefs délais pour permettre un retour des choses à la normale”.
Passant en revue les relations historiques unissant les deux pays, le président de la République a affirmé que cette visite “nous rappelle l’histoire de l’Afrique et l’histoire commune entre l’Algérie et la Guinée-Bissau”.
“Nous, en tant que jeunes à l’époque, nous nous rappelons de la citation d’Amilcar Cabral “Les musulmans vont en pèlerinage à la Mecque, les chrétiens au Vatican et les révolutionnaires à Alger”, celle-ci étant la Mecque des révolutionnaires”, a-t-il ajouté.
