L’Union arabe de la culture sportive (ASCA) a honoré le président de la République, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, représenté par le ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad, en élisant l’Algérie “Capitale de la culture sportive arabe pour l’année 2023”, indique un communiqué du ministère.
Cette distinction intervient en reconnaissance des efforts du président de la République dans “l’unification du rang arabe en abritant en Algérie, de nombreux événements sportifs importants qui consacrent la diversité culturelle et reflètent l’identité arabe que l’Algérie veille à préserver à travers les Jeux sportifs arabes 2023”, a ajouté le communiqué.
Dans une déclaration à la presse, au nom de l’Union arabe de la culture sportive et du Conseil d’administration du Prix “Capitale de la culture sportive arabe”, le président de l’ASCA, Ashraf Mahmoud s’est dit “honoré” de choisir l’Algérie comme Capitale de la culture sportive arabe 2023, lors de la deuxième édition de ce prix, placé sous le parrainage du Secrétaire général de la Ligue des Etats arabes.
“Le choix de l’Algérie vient en reconnaissance par cette instance arabe des efforts de l’Algérie qui a organisé de grands évènements sportifs à l’instar des Jeux méditerranéens, du Championnat d’Afrique des nations pour les joueurs locaux (CHAN), du Championnat d’Afrique de football des moins de 17 ans (U17), ainsi que des jeux sportifs arabes, ce grand rendez-vous sportif coïncidant avec la célébration par l’Algérie du 61e anniversaire de son indépendance”, a-t-il poursuivi.
Il s’est également dit heureux de participer à cette édition des JSA et d’accompagner ses activités culturelles, adressant “ses remerciements et ses sentiments de gratitude au secteur du sport algérien pour son apport au sport arabe et africain à travers les différents évènements”.
“Il n’est pas étrange que l’Algérie abrite ces grands événements, eu égard au potentiel, aux capacités et aux compétences dont elle recèle, pour assurer une organisation exemplaire” de ces jeux, a estimé M. Ashraf Mahmoud.
