Cinquante-neuf décès par noyade survenus au niveau des plages et des réserves d’eau ont été enregistrés dans plusieurs wilayas du pays durant le mois de juin dernier, indique jeudi un bilan de la Protection civile.
Sur la zone côtière qui compte 14 wilayas, “40 personnes ont perdu la vie, dont 18 au niveau des plages interdites à la baignade et 22 sur des plages surveillées”, souligne la même source, précisant que parmi ces derniers décès, “12 ont eu lieu en dehors des horaires de surveillance”.
Les bilans les plus lourds ont été enregistrés à Mostaganem (11 victimes), Oran (6 victimes), ainsi qu’à Bejaia et à Annaba (5 victimes chacune), poursuit la même source qui note “une hausse de 3,4% des noyades en mer par rapport à juin 2024”.
S’agissant des réserves d’eau, “19 décès ont été recensés, dont 11 dans des mares”, sachant que par rapport à l’année précédente, le nombre de noyades dans ces plans d’eau “a augmenté de 9,2%”.
Dans le même contexte, les services de la protection civile ont effectué, dans l’ensemble, “9990 interventions au niveau des plages surveillées, où 6465 personnes ont été sauvées d’une noyade certaine, 2781 traitées sur place et 658 personnes ont été évacuées vers les structures sanitaires locales”.
La wilaya de Boumerdès a enregistré le plus grand nombre d’interventions durant la même période, avec 1577 interventions, suivie par Ain Temouchent (1519 interventions) et Bejaia (1413 interventions), conclut le bilan.
