ALGÉRIE/ ECONOMIE : Pétrole : Redressement des cours dans un marché attentiste
Les cours du pétrole montaient un peu mardi lors des échanges européens dans un marché qui restait prudent face aux incertitudes autour des tensions commerciales sino-américaines.
Vers 14H00 GMT, le baril de Brent de la mer du Nord pour livraison en août valait 62,56 dollars à Londres, en hausse de 27 cents par rapport à la clôture de lundi.
A New York, le baril de WTI pour livraison en juillet cotait pour sa part 53,77 dollars, en hausse de 51 cents.
“Les cours du pétrole peinent à trouver leur direction (mardi) mais ils bénéficient au moins du soutien des mesures de l’Opep+”, a expliqué Stephen Innes, analyste en référence aux limites de la production mises en place par les pays exportateurs de l’Opep, Arabie saoudite en tête, et par leurs partenaires, dont la Russie.
Après s’être retrouvés à Moscou lundi, les deux piliers de l’accord, les ministres russe et saoudien de l’Energie, ont affirmé que les négociations continueraient notamment lors du G20, fin juin au Japon.
“En l’absence d’un événement marquant, le marché pourrait rester peureux jusqu’à la fin du mois, les restrictions de l’Opep compensant l’incertitude autour des tensions commerciales américano-chinoises” qui pèsent sur la demande mondiale, a ajouté M. Innes.
Les décisions de Washington sur les conflits commerciaux pèsent en effet sur les perspectives de demande. Les sanctions infligées à deux grands exportateurs de pétrole, l’Iran et le Venezuela, font toutefois diminuer l’offre, ce qui soutient les prix du pétrole.
“Les inquiétudes grandissantes relatives à la demande et les faiblesses de l’économie mondiale vont peser sur les prix à court terme”, a estimé lui aussi Benjamin Lu, analyste.
Les opérateurs commençaient aussi à se préparer à la publication des données hebdomadaires sur les réserves des Etats-Unis arrêtées au 7 juin, attendues mercredi par l’Agence américaine d’information sur l’Energie (EIA).
