L’ONU s’est dite “profondément préoccupée” après des expulsions de migrants par Tunis vers des zones inhospitalières aux frontières libyenne et algérienne.
Les autorités tunisiennes ont réfuté jeudi 3 août des informations de l’ONU et de médias “sur des opérations d’expulsions” des migrants subsahariens aux frontières avec la Libye et l’Algérie. “Ce qui a été publié par certaines organisations internationales et surtout la déclaration du porte-parole de l’ONU est caractérisée par des imprécisions, voire des contrevérités”, a expliqué le ministre de l’Intérieur, Kamel Fekih, à l’agence locale Tap.
Selon lui, les forces de sécurité du pays “ne ménagent aucun effort pour secourir et sauver les migrants sur les frontières terrestres et maritimes”, assurant que “15 327 migrants, dont 95%” provenant d’Afrique subsaharienne, ont été “sauvés entre janvier et juillet”. “L’Etat tunisien n’est pas responsable de ce qu’il se passe hors de ses frontières”, a insisté Kamel Fekih.

“Nous sommes profondément préoccupés par l’expulsion de migrants, réfugiés et demandeurs d’asile de Tunisie”, avait déclaré mardi le porte-parole adjoint des Nations unies, Farhan Haq, lors d’un point-presse. Après la mort le 3 juillet à Sfax d’un Tunisien lors d’une rixe avec des migrants, au moins “1 200 ressortissants subsahariens” ont été expulsés par les forces de sécurité tunisiennes et déposés dans des zones inhospitalières aux frontières libyenne et algérienne, selon l’ONG américaine Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Selon des organisations, le Croissant rouge tunisien a mis à l’abri environ 830 personnes le 12 juillet. Toutefois, dans les semaines suivantes, plusieurs médias dont l’AFP ont documenté, avec des témoignages de migrants, des gardes-frontières libyens et d’ONG, que 350 personnes (dont 12 femmes enceintes et 65 enfants) sont encore bloquées à Ras Jedir. En outre, des centaines de migrants continuent d’affluer dans le désert libyen en provenance de Tunisie.
