L’Algérie a plaidé pour le respect “des règles et principes fondamentaux du droit international humanitaire” dans la crise ukrainienne “sans discrimination” face à la souffrance humaine.
L‘Algérie a également appelé le Conseil de sécurité à “s’acquitter de ses responsabilités fondamentales” pour maintenir la paix et la sécurité internationales et coopérer “pour la paix et la sécurité internationales conformément à la Charte des Nations Unies”, a affirmé le représentant permanent de l’Algérie auprès des Nations Unies, Nadir Larbaoui dans une déclaration explicative du vote de l’Algérie portant sur le projet de résolution franco-mexicain, lue, lors de la session extraordinaire de l’Assemblée générale des Nations Unies, tenue jeudi à New York.
“L’Algérie exprime sa profonde préoccupation face à l’aggravation de la crise en Ukraine et ses répercussions sur la situation humanitaire, devenue une réalité tragique qui exige, plus que jamais, le respect par tous des règles et principes fondamentaux du droit international humanitaire qui définissent les obligations internationales dans ce domaine, notamment les Conventions de Genève de 1949. Le Protocole additionnel de 1977 et le droit international des droits de l’Homme. A cet égard, l’Algérie exhorte le Conseil de sécurité à s’acquitter de ses responsabilités principales en matière de maintien de la paix et de la sécurité internationales, et la coopération pour la paix dans le monde, conformément à la Charte des Nations Unies”, a souligné M. Larbaoui.
“L’Algérie tient à réaffirmer son attachement aux principes et buts de la Charte des Nations Unies et aux règles du droit international fondées sur le respect de la souveraineté, de l’indépendance et de l’intégrité territoriale des Etats ainsi que le respect mutuel des obligations internationales et des garanties de sécurité”, a-t-il ajouté.
“L’Algérie souligne, également, l’importance d’intensifier les efforts diplomatiques pour mettre un terme à la crise humanitaire actuelle en Ukraine et réitère son soutien aux efforts visant à apaiser les tensions à travers le dialogue et la négociation, seul moyen pour résoudre la crise et d’arrêter l’effusion du sang et prendre en charge les aspects humanitaires tragiques, sans discrimination dans la prise en charge des souffrances humaines, afin d’assurer la sécurité, la sûreté et la stabilité des pays et des peuples de la région.”, a-t-il conclu.
